Meet the team
Oscar Retana, and the sons who work beside him
“I would rather tell somebody their pool has two more years in it than sell them a job they did not need.”
Twenty-one years on pool crews in the Inland Empire and more than a hundred renovations, and Oscar is still the one in the pool. He measures your job, he prices it, and he is there the morning the old surface comes out.
That sounds like a small thing until you have hired the other kind of company. Somebody polished comes out, writes a number, and hands the job to a crew who were never in the room for that conversation. Then the details you cared about turn out to have been in a file nobody opened.
Here there is no gap between the person who quoted it and the people doing it. The crew is Oscar and his sons. On site it is him or one of them, every day the job is running — the same small family crew from the day the pool is drained to the day the water goes back in.
We work in English and in Spanish. Llame, escriba o mande fotos en el idioma que prefiera y le contestamos en el mismo.
Why it matters
Twenty-one years, and the crew is his sons
Two things that are hard to fake, and between them they explain most of how this company works.

Twenty-one years in one trade, in one region, is long enough to have seen the same pools twice. Oscar has resurfaced pools that somebody else resurfaced eight years earlier, and opened up shells where the last crew plastered straight over a problem instead of fixing it. You do not get that from a brochure. You get it from being the person who has to chip it all back out.
It is also long enough to know what a pool in this part of California actually does. Hard water, a sun that does not quit from May to October, and the swing between a Riverside afternoon and a January night wear a surface down faster here than in most of the country. That is why the honest lifespan we quote is eight to twelve years on plaster and fifteen to twenty on pebble, and not the numbers a manufacturer prints.
The second part matters just as much. Working with your sons changes what you are willing to put your name on. There is no crew to blame, nobody getting subbed out, and no version of the job where somebody cuts a corner and is gone by the time it shows.
It is also why we would rather turn work down than take it badly. A pool that has two more seasons in it gets told so. A finish we know will mottle in three years gets explained before you choose it, in writing, not after.
What twenty-one years teaches you
- The shell decides the job, not the finish
- Preparation is most of the price, and it is the part nobody can see later
- Colored plaster looks best on day one
- Water chemistry in the first two weeks decides how long the surface lasts
- Access to the yard changes the week more than the pool does
- A patch never matches
Our testimonials
Real experiences. Real results.
Hear it from the people whose backyards we worked in. Then read the reviews straight from our Google profile, below.
A customer on how the job went, start to finish.
Another customer, another backyard in Southern California.
Real reviews from real clients
Every one of them written by somebody whose pool we worked on, in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles or San Diego county. Several are in Spanish, because a good share of our customers are.
We would rather you read them before you call us than after.
What you get
How we work — on every job, every time
Six things we hold to. None of them are complicated, and most of what goes wrong on a pool job is one of them being ignored.
The owner is in the pool
Not supervising it from a truck between four backyards. Oscar or one of his sons is there, working, every day your job is running. You always know who to talk to, because it is the same family every time.
We quote by the linear foot
By the perimeter of your pool — not square feet, not gallons, not how your backyard looks. It is the one number that actually drives the work, and it is why two quotes from us on the same pool look the same. We measure before we price, every time.
A fixed price, in writing
Line by line before anything is demolished, including what is not included. You should be able to hand it to another contractor and compare like for like.
You approve any surprise
If we chip out the old surface and find something in the shell, you get a photo and a number that afternoon. Nothing gets covered back up before you have said yes.
A clean work site, daily
We tidy up every day we are on site, not only when the job is finished, and the debris leaves in our truck instead of sitting in your driveway.
Financing available
Ask about it when you call. We can talk through the options before you decide on scope, so the budget is not the thing that stops the project.
The company
CA’s Finest & Quality Pool Plastering Inc
A licensed California contractor, CSLB #1148412, based in Riverside County and working across five counties.
Look the license up before you call us. Go to cslb.ca.gov, type in 1148412, and you will see the status in about thirty seconds. Do that with every contractor who quotes you, including us. It is the single cheapest piece of due diligence there is and almost nobody does it.
There is no office to visit and no showroom, which is deliberate. We work out of a truck and we come to the pool. Nobody is paying for a lobby. What you get instead at the estimate is the samples brought to you — the actual tile, coping and finish options, in your own backyard. Things you can hold, and stand on, in the sun, which is the only way to find out whether a coping stone is one you can walk on barefoot in July.
Every job carries a written one-year guarantee on our workmanship, handed to you with the paperwork rather than promised verbally. And financing is available — if the budget is what is holding the project back, ask us about it when you call. It is worth knowing your options before you decide on the scope, not after.

Two real projects
Why we will not price your pool from a photo alone
Not a price list — two remodels that are finished and paid for, side by side, so you can see why the number is never the same twice.
| Moreno Valley | Hemet | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | About 180 linear feet | About 130 linear feet |
| What was done | Pool and spa, new waterline tile, mini pebble finish throughout | Complete remodel of the pool itself |
| Why they differ | A spa adds a second set of edges, jets and a spillway — and pebble costs more than plaster | No spa, a smaller perimeter, and a simpler run of work |
| What stayed the same | Oscar and his sons on both, a fixed price in writing before the first hammer, and a daily update from the person doing the work | |
Two pools fifty feet apart in size, and two very different projects. That is the whole reason we come out and measure instead of quoting over the phone. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly what we are looking at — including when the answer is that your pool can wait another season. The real number comes after we have seen it, the visit is free, and the price is fixed in writing before anything is demolished.
If the number is what is holding you back
Financing is available
Most of the people who call us have been putting the job off for two or three years, and the budget is usually the reason. Ask us about financing when you call. We can talk through the options before you decide on the scope, so you are choosing what your pool actually needs instead of choosing around a number.
And there is $500 off your first project with us — remodeling or new construction — on top of whatever the quote already says. Veterans and active-duty military, always.
Written guarantee on our workmanship
If something fails because of our workmanship within the first year, we come back and repair it. No cost, no argument — and it is in writing before we ever start, not promised verbally at the door.
Real work, real results
On the job
No stock photography — every project shown here is one of ours, in a real backyard around the Inland Empire.

off your first remodeling or new construction project
For every new customer, on top of whatever the quote already says — your first pool remodeling or new pool construction project with us. Veterans and active-duty military, always. And ask about financing while you are at it. Just mention it when you call.
